SEVERE weather in the neighborhood!

When we returned form our Utah vacation to see my little Mollie bean we returned to an extremely unwelcome situation. The sump pump in our other home here that we rent out had burned out and right after it stopped working we had a series of torrential rains that proceeded to fill the sump pit to the top and then continue to fill the basement above the floor about two inches deep before the renters noticed it. We came home to a text message informing us of this! We spent the last two weeks getting the water pumped out, the floor dry and the sump pit dried out. Next onto all the mold prevention and making sure that everything has dried out properly without damage. It has been an expensive little adventure to say the least but we were just lucky that it wasn't any worse.
Next....This tornado was practically in our back yard. Well actually the back yard of the neighbor across the cul de sac. We were invited over for a better view and we could see it touching down and throwing dirt around. On the news they said it was slow moving so none of us were running to the basement or anything but it was pretty creepy to watch it move around in the field behind our neighborhood. Colorado gets tornadoes from time to time but this is the closest one we have seen since we moved here almost 6 years ago. Brode has been talking about tornadoes every day since and both Peyton and him had severe nightmares that night. needless to say it was a very crowded night in our king sized bed! All this weather is making for an adventurous close to our summer.

You can see here the bottom where it is touching the ground. The homes you see are in the court behind ours!

Check out that funnel!

Peytons first day of preschool

Yes, Yes, I know she has a black eye! Peyton actually missed her first day at preschool while we were in Utah to see Mollie come home. She ran into a counter top just in time to have a black eye for family pictures and for her first day of school when we got back. Peyton is so funny to see at school . Her usually loud and talkative self was reserved but still excited. It was fun to watch her just wander around the classroom and check everything out. I think she was a little overwhelmed at first. She was so nonchalont when I picked her up it seemed like she had been doing this all her life. I tried to ask her what she did and she was just quiet and in deep thought. She still hasn't told me about anything she has done the past few days in school except for playing on the playground.

peytons first dance class

At the studio with her new ballet slippers.
In the opening circle in class
Coming out after a fun time at dance class
Mmmmm lollipops from the teacher.
Peyton just loved dance class. She had the best time and loved the scarves and magic wands they got to play with. I think she thought it was the best day of her life!
